JOINT-WINNER OF THE EUROPEAN CRIME FICTION STAR AWARD, 2018/19
Simon Beckett and Scandinavian writer Arne Dahl have tied in first place for the European Crime Fiction Star Award. Also known as ‘The Ripper’, the award is made every two years by Mord am Hellweg, Europe’s largest international crime festival. This is the first time two authors have tied for the award, and Simon is the first British winner.
The award ceremony will be held on February 25th in Unna, Germany.

Totenfang awarded Bronze in Germany’s Der Leserpreis, 2016, a reader’s prize run by Lovelybooks.de.

Simon’s first readings from Totenfang at the Mord am Hellweg crime festival in Unna and the Hamburg Crime Festival on November 2nd and 3rd were each attended by over 800 people. Thanks to the organisers of both festivals, moderator Günter Kiel, and actors Joe Bausch and Andreas Grötzinger for their German readings.

26th – Totenfang No.3 in Germany’s Spiegel bestseller list.
23rd – A marathon 2 hour signing at the Frankfurt Book Fair sold out all 400 copies of Totenfang. A big thank you to the readers who queued patiently from before 9.00 in the morning.
21st – Simon and German actor Johannes Steck were presented with a Platinum Disc at the Frankfurt Book Fair after the German audiobook of The Chemistry of Death (Die Chemie des Todes) reached 200,000 sales. It’s an incredible achievement, so congratulations and many thanks to Johannes and publishers Audiobuch.
14th – The fifth David Hunter novel, The Restless Dead, is pubished in Germany as a Wunderlich hardback.
